Project Overview
The existing deck had reached the end of its life — soft boards, failing footings, and a porch roof that had pulled away from the house. Rather than patch it, we rebuilt the whole assembly.
We set new footings and pressure-treated framing, laid cedar decking, and added black aluminum balusters with AZEK PVC trim on the porch posts and railings. The covered porch got a new beadboard ceiling and fresh paint on the floorboards.
The result is a deck and porch that will carry the family for another thirty years, with a railing system that meets current code.
